Social Media Policy

If you have any questions about anything within this document, we encourage you to bring them up with Kirsty. As new technology develops and the Internet changes, there may be time when this policy requires updating.

TESTIMONIALS

Where possible, Kirsty will turn off settings on social media or online services that relate to service ratings or reviews. The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency specifically prohibits advertising a regulated health service in a way that uses testimonials or purported testimonials, including patient stories and experiences, success stories, or fake testimonials. Where the testimonial appears on a public or third party page that Kirsty does not control, she will not interact or engage with the post in any way.

FRIENDING

Kirsty does not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on any social networking site (Facebook, LinkedIn, etc). Adding clients as ‘friends’ or contacts on these sites can compromise the client's confidentiality and respective privacy. It may also blur the boundaries of the therapeutic relationship and is therefore contrary to the current Australian Psychological Society Code of Conduct for Psychologists.

LIKING

Growing Kids Child Psychological Services maintains a Facebook Page to share posts and clinic updates with other Facebook users. You are welcome to view and follow the Facebook Page and to read or share articles posted there.  There is no expectation or request that you ‘like’ or ‘follow’ the page or any of the posts found there. Be aware that sharing of posts from social media may compromise your own privacy.

If you need to contact Kirsty between sessions, the best way to do so is by phone or email. Please do not use messaging on social media sites to contact Kirsty. These sites are not secure and Kirsty may not read these messages in a timely manner. Do not use wall postings, @replies, or other means of engaging with Kirsty in public online if we have an already established client/therapist relationship. Engaging with Kirsty this way could compromise your confidentiality, and ultimately lead to an inability to provide therapeutic services to you. It may also create the possibility that these exchanges become a part of your counselling records and will need to be documented and archived.
